The Newest and Biggest Art Show in the South makes a Bang!

Last December 8, 2021, The Manila’Bang Show: ArtFest International 2021, the newest and biggest art show in the south opened. It gathered more than 150 local and international artists with over 400 works on display at Festival Mall, Alabang. The show was organized by Galerie Roberto in partnership with Artsper Europe and Art Moments Jakarta and it was open to the public until December 12, 2021.

Artistic Director of the Show Alain Zedrick Camiling said that it was such an interesting and meaningful experience that was an “invitation for us to be keen on our dynamic, mundane experiences and how these shape various aspects of our being.” Together with Abe Orobia, and Abbey Batocabe of Galerie Roberto, he led the exhibition of The Manila’Bang Show with Reynold Dela Cruz who organized the group show for international artists.

Established visual artists Romulo Galicano and Raul Isidro, who graced the show with their presence during the vernissage, were in awe of the whole space. For Galicano, it was history in the making with its almost 2000 square meter exhibition space that was filled by prominent and emerging artists from Southeast Asia and Europe.

Within those five days of the show, the lower ground floor of the expansion wing of Festival Mall, Alabang was turned into a space where people can appreciate art and possibly start their own collection as well. Aside from this, The Manila’Bang Show also organized a series of online ArtTalks held over zoom with topics on contemporary art, culture, and the art market with leading professionals and practitioners in the arts, culture, and creative industries.

For Galerie Roberto to have organized such an event promises so much more for Manila’Bang. It is definitely not just an ordinary show and its future iterations will be something anticipated by many. — Drew Rabadon
