TOMCAT - UST, the premier events management and media production organization of the University of Santo Tomas, continues to explore and widen its ambition through the introduction of its new series “On Campus: A TOMCAT Original” with its driven members who wholeheartedly share their talents and skills in different platforms.
The five-part series revolves around four Thomasian students who are faced with their own challenges, yet at the same time, attempt to thrive in different aspects of their lives. It focuses on the shift of face-to-face classes to the online set-up that most students are now in. Moreover, it aims to connect all students, especially Thomasians, with each other through the values the University has instilled in them.
On Campus director Christopher Joshua Barlaan said, “We may seem alright once we turn on our cameras, but behind our screens, we all go through personal trials and tribulations during this time, and that’s what we want to show in this TOMCAT original series, so expect our silent battles to reflect in all the characters as we get to know them and their stories.”
Executive Producer Issa Jose highlights that as students, we are together in this journey, and the things we go through and feel are all valid. “From planning of producing a series and now it’s finally happening, it feels surreal and it shows that TOMCAT will always find ways to complete [the] Thomasian experience and uplift [the] Thomasian spirit amidst the pandemic. With this project, people can expect stories of students featuring their triumphs and personal struggles. After all, we just want them to realize that you are not alone and your feelings are valid,” she said. The team behind On Campus: A TOMCAT Original hopes that this will make students feel at ease with the Thomasian community even though they do not physically experience the campus life right now.
